Zscaler research finds ransomware attackers target managers
Image: Zscaler

New research from Zscaler ThreatLabz shows that ransomware attackers are increasingly targeting employees with managerial authority rather than just technical administrators. Over a one-month period, the group identified 351 victims across 334 organisations, with 62% holding manager-level titles or higher and 75% working in business functions such as finance, sales, and operations.

The findings highlight the value of business access in enabling data theft and extortion. Zscaler recommends that organisations enforce least-privilege access and adopt zero trust architectures to mitigate such risks.
