Tenable outlines exposure management role as Australia replaces Essential Eight

Australia’s Signals Directorate is retiring the Essential Eight framework in favour of a new outcomes-based Essentials series, with deprecation targeted for around mid-2027 and full retirement around mid-2028. The new model is structured as chapters, starting with enterprise IT and expanding to cloud, operational technology and possibly agentic AI.
Tenable said the shift moves organisations away from periodic checklist assessments towards continuous evidence of security posture, and positioned its Tenable One Exposure Management Platform as a way to unify exposure data across IT, cloud, identity, OT and web applications.
