RemoteThreat launches with $7M for an offensive cyber operations platform

RemoteThreat Inc. has launched with $7m in pre-seed funding to bring its O/C/O Platform to enterprise red teams and U.S. government customers. Osage University Partners and DataTribe co-led the round, and part of the money will go towards new features.

The company describes the platform as the first commercial end-to-end system for offensive cyber operations, spanning eight connected components from mission planning through AI-assisted operation. It is designed for expert human operators rather than as a black-box automated penetration testing tool, and components can also be embedded in partner products. Talon Defense Inc. is integrating them into systems it already fields.

RemoteThreat has taken on The Nakasone Group as a strategic adviser. The firm was founded by retired Army Gen. Paul M. Nakasone, former head of the National Security Agency and U.S. Cyber Command, who said the team’s offensive experience and custom AI models could contribute to national security and enterprise defence.

Chief executive Chris Thompson previously founded IBM’s first dedicated red team and later led X-Force Red. The wider team, drawn from Mandiant, SpecterOps, Microsoft and defence contractors, has run red-team engagements against nuclear power plants, critical infrastructure providers and large banks, according to the company. The launch follows an August presidential memorandum on private-sector cyber operations and a Senate defence authorization bill proposing a trial programme for vetted companies to operate against adversary networks.
