Outerlimit Raises $16 Million to Stop Rogue AI Agents From Causing Harm

Outerlimit has emerged from stealth with $16m in pre-seed funding from AlbionVC, Evolution Equity Partners, Crane Venture Partners and a group of individual angel investors. The New York-based company was founded by Tony Pepper, Neil Larkins and Peter Vincent.

Outerlimit sells a decentralized security and authorization layer for autonomous agentic AI. It discovers agents running in a system, observes their behaviour, and enforces a pre-defined policy of allowed and disallowed actions, aiming to block harmful activity at machine speed regardless of whether an agent is aligned.

The company argues that traditional security, which relies on rules and the fear of consequences, does not work for agents that have no concept of either. Vincent said trust, rather than the number of agents built, will be the limiting factor as enterprises adopt the technology.
