nuHarbor adds Splunk-based mXDR service for state and local government

nuHarbor has expanded its Splunk services portfolio with a new managed extended detection and response (mXDR) offering aimed at state and local government organisations. The Burlington, Vermont-based managed security provider said the service is built for agencies that run a mix of SIEM, EDR and identity tools procured on separate timelines and budgets.
The offering uses Splunk as an aggregation point to centralise detection, triage and response across a state’s existing technology investments, rather than requiring agencies to standardise on new tools first. Approved response playbooks can carry out routine actions such as containment, firewall changes, ticketing and notifications automatically, with an optional designated approver for higher-stakes decisions.
CEO Justin Fimlaid said states inherit decades of agency-by-agency purchasing decisions and the industry must meet them where their technology actually is. COO Kyle Smith said the approach gives a state CISO one consistent view and one accountable response team across systems that were never built to interoperate.
