Lookout targets smishing, voice cloning, and vishing with real-time mobile protection

Lookout has launched Social Engineering Protection, a module within its Mobile AI Security Platform that provides automated, real-time defence against AI-driven mobile threats. The company said the product targets linkless smishing, synthetic voice cloning and other voice phishing techniques.

The vendor argues that frontier AI has made social engineering more convincing and scalable, with attackers able to craft context-aware messages and impersonate executives, colleagues and IT support. It said legacy email security and awareness training were not built for deception that spans SMS, voice and messaging apps.

Social Engineering Protection is the third core pillar of Lookout’s Mobile AI Security Platform, alongside AI usage and data exposure, and mobile software vulnerabilities. Praveen Mamnani, chief product officer at Lookout, said the module closes the gap by detecting and stopping attacks in real time before users act on them.
