Heights Finance data breach affects at least 1.2 million people

Heights Finance Holdings is notifying more than 1.2 million people that their personal and financial information was stolen in a data breach. The company discovered in early May that hackers accessed a third-party cloud-based platform used for customer data storage.
The breach affected individuals in Texas, South Carolina, New Hampshire, and Vermont, with the largest numbers in Texas (734,828) and South Carolina (486,463). The stolen data includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, bank account details, and other sensitive information.
Heights says it has secured the platform, brought in cybersecurity specialists, and reported the incident to federal law enforcement. The company is offering 24 months of free credit monitoring and identity protection services, and says it has found no evidence that the stolen information has been shared on the dark web.
