GitProtect launches DevOps downtime cost calculator

GitProtect.io has released a Downtime Cost Calculator for DevOps, an interactive tool that estimates the financial impact of outages on DevOps platforms. Users select their platform and enter team size and hourly rates to receive a tailored cost estimate, alongside a Cyber Resilience Score assessment.

The calculator draws on 2025 outage data from major DevOps platforms. GitProtect’s DevOps Threats Unwrapped 2026 report found 9,255 hours of downtime across those platforms in 2025, with critical outages up 225% year on year and patched vulnerabilities up 43% in the second half of the year.

The company cited industry figures showing downtime costs an average of $5,600 per minute, rising to $1m per hour for Fortune 1000 firms, while ITIC found 90% of mid-size and large organisations put the cost above $300,000 per hour. GitProtect provides automated backup and recovery for Jira, Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab and Azure DevOps.
