DOE selects Frenos, Raptor Dynamix and Bastazo for SENTRY energy cybersecurity funding

The US Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) has named Frenos, Raptor Dynamix and Bastazo as recipients of Securing ENergy Technology ResiliencY (SENTRY) awards. The SENTRY project supports the administration’s efforts to strengthen the security and resilience of US energy infrastructure, targeting energy risk quantification, industrial control system cybersecurity, decentralised asset management security and counter-drone capabilities.
Frenos is building an automated adversary emulation framework that combines adversarial AI with energy sector threat intelligence, translating generic intelligence into energy-specific attack chains and running realistic scenarios across substations and distributed energy resources. Raptor Dynamix is developing Grid Guardian, a counter-unmanned aircraft system that detects, classifies and defeats drones threatening critical energy infrastructure using directional radio frequency disruption and an autonomous interceptor drone.
Bastazo is working on a Cyber-Informed Engineering Risk Quantification Framework that links cybersecurity posture to operational impacts through AI-driven analytics, engineered controls and utility-validated modelling. The framework combines NIST Cybersecurity Framework and C2M2 maturity data with operational technology attack-path analysis and reliability indicators such as SAIDI and SAIFI. ConnectWerx manages the project in partnership with the DOE under a Partnership Intermediary Agreement set up by the department’s Office of Technology Commercialization.
