Cybersplice launches UK OT cybersecurity operation

Cybersplice has set up Cybersplice UK Ltd to bring its operational technology security business into the British market, starting with manufacturing and industrial environments. The UK operation is launching Rapid OT Security Visibility, delivered through the company’s Splice platform, which discovers OT assets, maps communications and relationships, flags behavioural outliers and gives context on potential cyber-physical risk.
Managing director Dietmar Kilian said visibility is the first step in understanding OT risk, and that organisations need to know what is present, how it communicates and what is changing before deciding on further security measures.
Cybersplice traces its origins to 2013, when a consulting team found a CT scanner on a hospital network whose public manual carried an administrator password and advice not to change it. Splice development began in 2015, with a first proof of concept in 2017 and incorporation of Cybersplice (Pty) Ltd in 2018 for Southern Africa. Past deployments include the City of Cape Town’s smart city infrastructure and cold-chain PLC networks for South African food processor Two-a-Day, plus projects in Spain, Morocco and Namibia. The company also took part in Project Orthos, a UK defence innovation programme run under Dstl’s Reducing the Cyber Attack Surface initiative.
