Commvault expands Cloud Rewind to cover more Azure resources

Commvault Systems Inc. has expanded its Cloud Rewind service to cover three times as many Microsoft Azure resource types, now supporting 62% of the Azure resource types it deems relevant to enterprise deployments. The update focuses on configuration data rather than application data, and includes new Protection Groups that combine application data and cloud configuration into a single air-gapped recovery workflow, as well as policy-based protection that automatically enrolls newly discovered resources by tag, region, and type across multiple clouds.
The company says this helps reduce the time enterprises spend rebuilding cloud applications after an attack, citing a survey that found 57% of CISOs took more than 4.5 days to fully recover from an incident. Cloud Rewind, launched in October 2024, uses technology from Appranix Inc., which Commvault acquired in April.
The expanded coverage is available now as an add-on workload within Commvault Cloud, with broader Azure protection targeted for release in the coming months.
