Chilean banking association signs cyberthreat intelligence agreement with Microsoft

The Association of Banks and Financial Institutions of Chile (ABIF) has signed a cybersecurity cooperation agreement with Microsoft’s Digital Crimes Unit, connecting ABIF’s Cybersecurity Coordination Group (VTF) to Microsoft’s threat intelligence and expertise.
The two organisations will share knowledge and best practice, run training, develop technical capability and analyse emerging threats and malicious actors. ABIF members will also gain access to Microsoft’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Program.
ABIF’s VTF analysed more than 8,500 threat intelligence reports during 2026 and coordinated responses to 243 active threats against Chile’s financial sector. Recent Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit operations identified 5,606 Lumma Stealer victims, 1,636 Fox Tempest victims and 479 victims linked to RedVDS in the country.
ABIF president José Manuel Mena said digital threats are constantly evolving and require increasingly sophisticated capabilities and collaboration, and that the agreement brings in the experience of a global player such as Microsoft.
